About Dr Barui
Dr Barui arrived in Australia as a refugee in 1973. He attended primary school in Tasmania and his secondary years were completed in Brisbane. Dr Barui has lived in Toowoomba since 2003. He has been in private practice since 2005, moving his rooms to St Vincent’s Hospital in 2010.
Dr Barui completed his high school years and medical training in Brisbane, qualifying as a doctor with an MBBS from Queensland University in 1993. He then worked throughout South East, Western and Northern Queensland during his residency and completed his Orthopaedic training on the Queensland program in 2003. During his orthopaedic training, he spent a total of 2 years in a speciality hand unit. He also completed further subspecialty training in complex hip and knee surgery at the Royal Infirmary in Bath, UK in 2005.
He is accredited at St Vincent's Hospital Toowoomba, The Toowoomba Surgicentre and St Andrew's Hospital Toowoomba. He specialises in hip, knee, shoulder and hand conditions. Dr Barui has a good working relationship with many of the Allied Health Professionals in town and is keen to pursue non-operative, as well as operative management of orthopaedic conditions. He has had extensive experience and considerable expertise in dealing with upper and lower limb trauma.
Dr Barui has been a supporter of many local causes and is proud to be a member of the Toowoomba community where his son and daughter were schooled. He is ably supported by his wife of over 25 years and has an interest in motor sports, tennis, wine, hunting, shooting and fishing.
